HAZRAT GAUSE ZAMAN SHAHSUFI MOULANA SYED ABUL BASHAR AL-HASANI WAL-HOSSAINI(R):


Syed Abul Bashar (R) was the second son of Hazrat Gausul Azam Maulana Syed Gulamur Rahman (Bababhandari)(R) and the father and spiritual teacher (Murshid) of Shah Sufi Hazrat Maulana Syed Mainuddin Ahmed Al-Hasani Wal-Hussaini (M.J.A).

Syed Abul Bashar (R) was born in 1906 A.D in Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif.He passed the primary stage of eduction in Darbar Sharif and Chittagong town.He then passed the final examination of F.M. with flying colours from Calcutta Islamia College and higher degree from the Islamic University.He was one of the renowned Ulemas of the age.He was also a fierce Orator for which he was called Gaus-E-Zaman.After completion of academic education,he dedicated his whole life in the service of his father and spiritual teacher Syed Gulamur Rahman (Bababhandari).Syed Abul Bashar (R) was always in the divine side of Bababhandarei (R), which helped him in becoming a great saint.Syed Abul Bashar (R) was a great muslim scholar as well as a great saint of Islam.He was very much polite and gentle.His smiling face attracted all people irrespective to caste and creed.He was also a great writer,and was also one of the greatest composers of Maizbhandari songs or Semah

He was in the highest rank of dignity among all sons and representatives (Khalifa) of Baba Bhandari (R).Baba Bhandari (R) selected him the Imam of his Janaja Prayer during his lifetime. After the demise of Baba Bhandari (R) Syed Abul Bashar lead the Janaja prayer of Baba Bhandari (R).

Syed Abul Bashar (R) was the brightest star of the age in the sky of Tariqat and Marifat. He used to call by the ulemas the "Store-House of Tasauf & Towhid. He was also called "Sultanul Mashaikh". He had deep inclination to Marifat and Ahley Sunnat Wal Jamat.He had contributed enough to up lift Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat.The renowned Sunni Ulemah like Allamah Abdus Salam Isapuri(R), Allamah Mufti Aminul Haq Farhadabadi(R), Maulana Hashmat(R), Sher-E-Bangla Allamah Azizul Haque Al-Qadery (R) & others were inspired by him every walks of life. He used to spend most of his valuable time in discussing with the Sunni Ulemas about various complecated matter of Tasauf.He could solve the ambiguous matters of Islam very easily by virtue of his sharp intellect. He had vast knowledge in the languages of English, Urdu, Persian and Arabic & could fluently speak with those languages. Many prominent figures of the country were his disciples. The disciples were very much inclined to him and he also loved there like his own sons & daughters. He had an attractive complexion.

Syed Abul Bashar (R) was very much inclined to earn knowlwdge. He had committed to memory the verses of Mosnavi Sharif of Hazrat Allahmah Jalaluddin Rumi (R), very often he had recited the verses in front of his disciples & explained them in easy language.

He was a super man of simple nature & did not love to lead or life of pomp and grandeur. This great Wali Allah was very much fond of deep meditation. He was adverse of this frail world and thought a very little for his earnings. He had deep love for our Holy Prophet . He did not tolerate the slightest discourtesy about our Holy Prophet . He always taught his disciples to purify soul. He said, "Perfection of soul depends on the revoult against the appetites." The holy Quran also declares: Kad aflaha man jakkaha: Truly he succeeds who purifies it (Soul).

Soul must be controlled under strict supervision. God makes the soul and this is the most precious gift of all to man, the faculty of distinguishing between right and wrong. Man should learn that his success, his prosperity, his salvation depends on himself, keeping his soul pure as god made it, and his failure, his decline, his perdition depends on his soiling his soul by choosing evil.

After the demise of Baba Bhandari (R) thousands of people always used to come to Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif to visit the holy shrine of Baba Bhandari (R) and they come into deep contact with Syed Abul Bashar (R) as he was the most learned man in the Darbar Sharif. He welcomed the people with great enthusiasm. He entertained the guest's cordially.

Thousands of people of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan & Afghanistan flocked together to become his disciples. He had great influence in various parts of the Sub-Continent. He had some influential and successful Khalifas (Representatives) who earned a great reputation in these regions.

He liked to hear the religious songs and he had in him the influential ecstasy; Late Abu Qual, the prominent Qual of the sub continent and the mystic poet Ramesh Sheel were patronized by him enormously.

The following were his valuable speeches:

1. The most valuable wealth for a perfect Muslim is unconditional love and submission to our Holy Prophet . It is the traveling allowances for the salvation of this world and here after. Dedicated your self to earn the affectionate sight of holy prophet.

2. Keep yourself away from those who are discourteous to our Holy Prophet . They will not avail the grace of Allah & will be deprived from the mercy of Allah.

3. The key of the treasury of Baba Bhandari (R) is in my hand. Nobody will open it without me.

Syed Abul Bashar have 7 Sons & 5 Daughters. The following are his Sons & Daughters:

1.Shahjada Syed Fariduddin Ahmed 2. Shahjada Syed Nizamuddin Ahmed 3. Shahjada Syed Moinuddin Ahmed 4. Shahjada Syed Giashuddin Ahmed 5. Shahjada Syed Kutubuddin Ahmed 6. Shahjada Syed Rafiquddin Ahmed 7. Shahjada Syed Anisuddin Ahmed.

Daughters:
1.Syeda Rejea Ahmed 2. Syeda Rahima Ahmed 3. Syeda Khurshida Ahmed 4. Syeda Jarina Ahmed 5. Syeda Mursheda Ahmed

This versatile genius Shah Sufi Hazrat Allamah Syed Abul Bashar (R) left this frail world only at the age of 59 on 16th December in the year 1965. Every year on 16th December his Urus Mubarak is observed with great pleasure in his holy shrine in Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif. We are highly indebted to him. We remember him with high esteem.
